Firefighters Cycle for Burns Victims
More than fifty fire and emergency services staff and
volunteers will end their seven-day Bike4Burns charity
ride at the Queensland Children’s Hospital in May, raising
much-needed funds for the Children’s Hospital Foundation.
The 52-strong cycling contingent cycled more than 650km across
parts of Queensland, beginning their journey in Bundaberg.
Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) Commissioner
Katarina Carroll said the charity ride had raised more than
$630,000 for the Children’s Hospital Foundation since it began
in 2007.
“The riders started their journey in Bundaberg and have traversed
difficult terrain through Biggenden, Goomeri, Nanango, Crows
Nest, Clifton and Ipswich prior to their arrival at the Queensland
Children’s Hospital,” Ms Carroll said.
“While their determination to ride more than 650km in one Ms Carroll said the charity bike ride raised more than $40,000
