Amy and Phoenix Tugs at the Heart
Local children’s author, Jenny Woolsey, is pleased to announce the release of her
fifth middle grade novel, Amy and Phoenix.
This heart-warming, fantasy chapter book, is a must read for any child aged 8-11 years.
Amy and Phoenix is written through the eyes of a young Australian farm girl whose
favourite ewe gives birth to a three-legged lamb. Amy uses her strong assertive per-
sonality, her unique ability to talk to the animals, and her sense of social justice, to try
to save the lamb’s life. Amy, the farm animals, and Hannah, Amy’s sister, join together
in this quest. One major lesson Amy learns is that ‘going viral on YouTube’ can have un-
foreseen consequences. The story addresses the themes of disability, advocacy, friend-
ship, farming and agriculture, animal welfare and cyber safety.
Jenny Woolsey is an Australian author and speaker, teacher and an advocate for fa-
cial differences, mental illness and inclusive education. She has a Master of Education
(Honours), a Certificate IV in Youth Work, and a Cert IV in Training and Assessment. Jen-
ny is on the leadership team of the Queensland Collective of Inclusive Education and
administrates the Moreton Bay Region Local Writer Meet and Greet. She writes and
speaks to schools on difference, diversity and disability which she is passionate about.
Jenny aspires to help children to accept and embrace their differences, and to have a
victor, not a victim, mindset.
Amy and Phoenix is available from Jenny’s website and many online bookstores as
a paperback and ebook. For more information please contact Jenny Woolsey on

SAFE CROSSING FOR KOALAS
Have you seen the ‘Koala Zone’ pavement stencils completed on Lilley Road and
Kremzow Road (near the Koala underpass)?
The fauna rope bridge installation on Kremzow Road is nearly completed, at the time of writing. Energex are raising the power
lines away from the new fauna bridge location. Once that occurs, the bridge will be installed.
When you are driving through these areas where koalas live (and other wildlife), please slow down. Consider saving this number
1300 ANIMAL (1300 264 625) to your mobile phone in case you find an injured koala or other native animal on any road.
