A DOG FOR James
The Lions Club of North Lakes will be supporting and assisting a family in our Community
with fundraising for a SmartPup, to benefit a child with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
James is a bubbly and caring seven year old boy. He and his family have been approved
for a SmartPup and require substantial financial assistance and support to achieve the
SmartPup fundraising requirement. The family are required to raise $20,000-$25,000
towards the cost of training.
SmartPups is a not for profit organisation based on the Sunshine Coast that
specially trains dogs to assist children living with Autism. They improve the
quality of life for young people and their families through custom training
Assistance Dogs to master “task specific” support skills. The SmartPup becomes
an integral part of the family unit, safeguarding the child’s health and well-
being. Providing early intervention assistance, friendship and companionship,
the Assistance Dog can ease anxiety over daily challenges, provide opportunity
for a greater level of independence and boost confidence for improved social inclusion
and developmental achievement.
The Lions Club of North Lakes has also had a Grant Application for this project approved
by the Australian Lions Foundation (ALF). The ALF Grant will match the funds raised by the
Lions Club of North Lakes, up to $5000, for this worthy project. This will provide a significant
contribution for James and his family towards the fundraising required to get James his much
needed SmartPup!
$10,000, in total, will go a long way in assisting James and his family. In order to raise the $5000
and have the funds matched, the Lions Club of North Lakes organised community fundraiser
events, including a free movie night and a Walk A Dog for James Community event at Lake Eden.

THE VAMPIRE FACELIFT
The Vampire Facelift® uses injectable blood-derived growth
factors, HA fillers, and follow-up procedures to restore facial
beauty and revive youth. Although others may make claims,
only doctors listed at www.VampireFacelift.com are certified to
do the procedure in the intended way.
So you know what to expect, we’ve listed the Vampire Facelift
process Dr Donna undertakes at Bartchall Medical:
• Evaluate the face
• Apply numbing cream
• Draw blood from the arm
• Centrifuge the blood
• Inject an HA filler
• By this time, the centrifuge has separated the blood into its
various components, making the platelets easily accessed
• Extract platelets from the tube
• Inject the PRFM into the face
• Aftercare plans
Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy is the latest, most innovative
process to rejuvenate skin, specifically against signs of aging
and scarring. Creating the platelet-rich plasma is fairly simple.
Blood is made up of 4 major components –white blood cells,
red blood cells, platelets, and plasma. When blood is spun in
a centrifuge, the platelets and plasma separate, thus making
them usable in PRP Therapy. The PRP can then be injected into
the desired portion of skin, improving appearance and reducing
wrinkles, scarring and other signs of wear and tear. The stem
cells found in the PRP are known to greatly increase the growth
of fresh skin molecules, stimulating regeneration.
