2018-19 Volunteer Grants – Opening of Funding Round

Community organisations in Dickson can now apply for their share
of $20 million in grants to support the important work done by
volunteers. Volunteers are the backbone of our community and the
economic value of volunteering in Australia is worth $290 billion per
year, notwithstanding the priceless social contribution.

Grants between $1,000 to $5,000 will be available to assist community
organisations buy equipment, train volunteers and contribute towards
things such as fuel costs. If you are interested in more information,
please contact my electorate office to find out more.

Applications close 18th September 2018.

Backing Mental Health in Dickson

In this year’s Federal Budget $338.1 million was announced in new
mental health funding, with particular focus on suicide prevention,
older Australians and research. The new Million Minds Mission that
will conduct mental health research means an additional one million
Australians will benefit from diagnosis, treatment and recovery. This
mission has received funding of $125 million over the next decade
that will further support individuals who are suffering from mental
health.

Handy resources available at my Office

Available at my Electorate Office in Strathpine are a number of handy
information guides and other resources. These include shopping lists,
seniors guides which contain information about services available to
seniors in our community and children’s resources.

The children’s resources are designed to help your youngsters with
school work and their responsibilities around home. There are
multiplication, alphabet and chores charts available. All resources are
free and I hope that you drop by to pick up yours soon.
