Mindfulness
Mindfulness
These days mindfulness seems to have become
a buzzword, but what does it mean and
how does it benefit us in reality?
Mindfulness means completely focusing your full attention on the here-and-
now, while accepting whatever arises in your awareness without judgement.
This has enormous benefits in everyday life e.g. school, work and relationships.
There is an obvious need to support children to learn the skills of managing
their attention with the ever-increasing demands of our fast-paced society.
Being mindful and focusing on one task at a time naturally makes it more likely
you will be able to perform a task well, while being less stressed. There is strong
scientific evidence to prove that even just a few minutes of mindfulness a day
has enormous benefits, helping people to; decrease stress, bring a sense of peace,
improve concentration and memory, boost self-esteem, increase self-awareness
and empathy, bring greater emotional stability, improve sleep and strengthen the
immune system and overall physical health.
Mindfulness is something that you can do in any given moment, by single-
tasking and giving it your full attention. However, many people benefit
from the support of a teacher and meditation group to get them started on
their journey.
